13U AAA Wins Bronze at National Western Tournament

Your COMBA 13U AAA Sun Devils are bringing home bronze from the National Western Tournament in Fort McMurray this past week! Representing British Columbia as Team BC at the tournament, they played some amazing baseball with the top teams from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

After losing their first game of the round robin, the team finished with 2 wins and a loss, but still managed to place 1st in their pool headed into semi-final play on Saturday. A three way tie in the pool came down to runs for and against and the boys solidified their position with strong numbers. Saturday afternoon brought a hard battle between Team BC and Team Alberta that ultimately ended in defeat and a score of 4-0 for Alberta. But that didn’t dismay the team, they came back Sunday morning for the Bronze medal game against Manitoba. After being down 8-0 in the bottom of the 2nd, Team BC battled back to within 4 by the end of the inning. The bottom of the 3rd lead to 4 more runs and a tie game. Manitoba then scored two in the 4th. However, BC closed that gap to 1 in the 5th and took the lead in the 6th. The final score was 10-12 in favor of your local Team BC!
