Calling all Umpires!

We are excited for the upcoming ball season and looking forward to welcoming new and seasoned umpires back to the ball field.

Please head on over to https://bcbua.ca/registration-now-open and register for the 2025 season.

Are you a new umpire?

If so, there are three steps that need to be completed:

  1. Online Membership Registration

    1. You will need to pay a registration fee based on your age. If you umpire 5 or more times this season, your registration will be refunded towards the end of 2025.

  2. Complete the online training

    1. We are told that the online portion of your training will be available soon. You need to do the online portion of the training before coming to the in-person clinic.

    2. Stay tuned for a news release about when the online portion of your training is available.

  3. Attend an in-person clinic

    1. Search for kelowna and “purchase” registration. It’s free!

    2. The in person training will be held March 8, 2025 at the Flex Academy Gym (907 Badke Road, Kelowna). Level 1 will be from 1:00-4:00pm and Level 2 will be from 5:00-8:00pm. Please wear clean running shoes.

    3. After the clinic you will be invited to the “Assignr” app where you can set your availability and receive game assignments.

Are you a returning umpire?

  1. You need to register and pay your dues. This year that is getting handled through a new website called “Spordle”. See the BCBUA announcement here: https://bcbua.ca/registration-now-open

  2. Unless you are fully level 2, you can also take an online clinic.

    • Level 2 will take 2 years to complete in full, because each year the online and in person clinics only cover half of the material. Last year was defense training so this year will be offense.

  3. Register for an in-person clinic.

    • Even if you have completed both offense and defense courses, we encourage you to come out every year to an in-person clinic in order to stay current and locked in, so please register for that. It’s free!

  4. If you are in high school, you can receive graduation credits for umpiring!

Are you a female umpire?

  1. Great news! BCBUA is offering its first ever female-only umpires clinic. See the image below for details.

We are looking forward to another great season!
