Hello COMBA Community,
We are grateful for the continued support of our community. Over the past few years, we’ve heard the concerns about timing for registration in conjunction with tryouts and planning with other programs in the valley, whether that be PBL baseball, or hockey etc.
As a board, in conjunction with our HP Coaches and conversations with our local PBL affiliates, have decided that it will no longer be required for players to participate in fall ball with COMBA in order to try out for College Prep, 18UAAA or 15UAAA.
This allows for players to try out for programs they aspire to, and in the event that they may not make a particular team, allow them every opportunity to play baseball at the next highest competitive level. It also allows multi-sport athletes to navigate the different seasons, or players who move into the Okanagan region the ability to also participate.
Our main goal as a board is to allow players every opportunity to PLAY - HUSTLE - GROW. We will be working this fall with the local PBL teams to stagger try outs, cuts, and final roster decisions so that players have every opportunity to play.
We are looking forward to this joint collaboration and supporting everyone who wishes to aspire to the best of their ability. Our goal as the baseball community in Kelowna is to ensure that no players fall through the cracks.
While we still need to have deadlines for registration, we will be working with the Okanagan A’s to make sure that they all work for both parties, and most importantly the players.
Warmly,
Your COMBA Board
